An extraordinary example of the power of making a speech: President Kennedy launched the Apollo program "to land a man on the moon and bring him safely back again" and so created this challenge and vision in the minds of the American people. He set out the map of space travel in Amreican consciousness. A few short years later, Armstrong and Aldrin did step onto the moon. And here, 50 years on, the circle completes with Buzz Aldrin reflecting on this journey: the witness that the Kennedy's promise to bring him safely back again held true.
